The SECO 02560827 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for high-performance grooving and turning operations in demanding machining environments. Built to LCMF160608-0600-FT geometry with a neutral hand orientation, this double-end insert features a micrograin carbide substrate and CP200 manufacturer grade with a PVD coating process. The cutting height is 0.177 inches and the maximum cutting width reaches 0.236 inches, making it well-suited for precision groove profiling on difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working on production turning centers rely on this insert for consistent tool life and predictable chip control.
This insert is engineered for use on superalloys and titanium, covering primary workpiece material codes M and S. It is appropriate for both production and job-shop environments where close-tolerance grooving is required on difficult materials. The FT chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during interrupted and continuous cuts. The double-end configuration offers two usable cutting edges per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume operations. Typical applications include aerospace component turning, medical implant profiling, and other precision machining scenarios involving exotic alloys.
Designed for use in MDT series toolholding systems accepting LCMF-style inserts with a 160608 size code. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and seating procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the CP200 grade on the target workpiece material.
