The SECO 02497640 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCGT-UX series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an ANSI insert code of CCGT32.51 and ISO code CCGT09T304, with an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and a positive rake geometry. The insert is coated with a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating under the CP500 manufacturer grade, offering a balance of wear resistance and toughness. With a 0.0157-inch corner radius and a sharp cutting edge, this insert is optimized for finishing and medium machining operations. It is left-hand oriented and held in place by a screw-type clamping system.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on stainless steel, steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium. It falls within material grades M10, M20, and M30. The CP500 grade is engineered to handle steel and cast iron applications requiring moderate wear resistance and toughness, as well as special and super alloys where high wear resistance is needed. It is typically used by CNC machinists and toolroom operators in both production and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and tool life on difficult materials are priorities.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting CCGT32.51 (ANSI) or CCGT09T304 (ISO) inserts with screw-type clamping. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium. Verify toolholder hand orientation and insert pocket geometry before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating the new insert. Index or replace the insert when surface finish or dimensional tolerance degrades, and never attempt to resharpen coated carbide inserts.
