The SECO 02448981 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation SEEX1204AFTN-ME11 and manufactured in grade F40M, a fine-grain carbide substrate. The insert features a PVD-applied dual coating of TiAlN and TiN for thermal resistance and edge durability. Its square shape provides four usable cutting edges with a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake angle of 21 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style that supports stability at the cutting zone. The ME11 chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip formation across a broad range of feed rates and cutting depths, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.3425 inches.
This insert is intended for use in face milling and shoulder milling applications on machining centers and milling machines in both production and job-shop environments. Its primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium, with secondary suitability for cast iron and non-ferrous metals. The SEEX1204AFTN-ME11 is compatible with the R217.53-12 and R220.53-12 cutter series. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units and suits shops running mixed-material programs where a single insert grade must cover several workpiece categories.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.53-12 and R220.53-12. Insert style SEEX, size code 1204, meets ANSI and ISO standard designations SEEX1204AFTN-ME11.
Insert seating and screw torque should follow the cutter body manufacturer specifications for the R217.53-12 or R220.53-12 toolholder. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw to avoid fastener damage.
