The SECO 02448911 is a solid carbide milling insert with the ANSI and ISO designation XPKX12T320PDER-E08, designed for high-performance milling in non-ferrous metal and superalloy and titanium applications. It carries manufacturer grade H25 and features a micrograin carbide substrate with a bright uncoated finish. The insert has a parallelogram shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 25 degrees, and a right-hand cutting orientation. Two honed cutting edges are available per insert, and the part is held in the cutter body by a screw-type clamping method. The E08 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in the target materials.
This insert is suited for milling operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper alloys, as well as superalloys and titanium workpieces. It is compatible with cutter series R217.97-X12 and R220.97-X12 per the manufacturer specification. Typical installation environments include CNC machining centers in production and job-shop settings where close-tolerance face milling, shoulder milling, or profile milling operations are performed. The uncoated H25 micrograin substrate performs well where coatings may cause built-up edge on soft or gummy non-ferrous materials.
Designed for use in cutter series R217.97-X12 and R220.97-X12 as specified by the manufacturer. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal; secondary workpiece material is superalloys and titanium.
Milling inserts of this type are seated and secured by a torx or hex screw in compatible cutter bodies — always de-energize and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edges during installation. Follow the cutter manufacturer tooling manual for proper seating, screw torque sequence, and runout verification before resuming cuts.
