The SECO 02445831 is a replaceable-tip drill in the SD103 series, designed for precision holemaking in metal cutting applications. It accepts SD100-style inserts at the tip, allowing tool body reuse while swapping worn or damaged cutting edges without replacing the entire drill. The shank is a 5/8 inch Weldon Flat, measuring 0.625 inches in diameter, which seats securely in compatible toolholders. Maximum drill depth reaches 1.97 inches at a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability channels fluid directly to the cutting zone, supporting chip evacuation and heat management during deep drilling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling production drilling work are the primary users of this tool.
This drill is suited for CNC machining centers and drill presses where repeatable hole quality in the 16.00 to 16.99 mm diameter range is required. The 3xD depth ratio positions it for standard through-hole and blind-hole work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The Weldon Flat shank prevents rotational slippage under high torque, making it appropriate for high-feed drilling cycles. Its through-coolant design makes it a strong fit for operations where dry or flood-only cooling is insufficient to maintain tool life and surface finish.
Compatible with SD100 series replaceable drill tip inserts. Designed for use with SD103 series toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch Weldon Flat shank. Drill diameter range covers 16.00 to 16.99 mm.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the Weldon Flat shank fully into the toolholder and confirm the set screw engages the flat before applying torque. When changing inserts, follow the insert manufacturer's seating and torque procedure using the appropriate insert wrench — do not substitute fasteners or apply unverified torque values.
