The SECO 02444856 is a laydown threading insert designed for external thread cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the 16ERAG60A designation and is manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating in the CP500 grade. The insert produces a partial profile 60-degree thread form and covers a thread range of 48 to 8 TPI, equivalent to a pitch range of 0.50 to 3.00 mm. The inscribed circle measures 9.53 mm (0.3752 inches) and the insert thickness is 3.47 mm (0.1366 inches). It is part of the Snap Tap series and is suited for right-hand external threading operations across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use in production and job-shop turning environments where consistent thread form and tool life are required. The CP500 grade with PVD coating makes it suitable for threading universal workpiece materials, including steel, stainless, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the K, M, P, and S material codes per ISO classification. It is a standard replacement insert for toolholders accepting the 16ER insert style.
Designed as a replacement threading insert for 16ER-style toolholders accepting laydown insert geometry. Compatible with ISO-standard toolholder pockets rated for the 16ER insert style.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping screw are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw to avoid cracking the carbide body.
