The SECO 02435656 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert with ANSI and ISO designation 218.19-100T-MD08, designed for high-performance milling operations in ferrous materials. Manufactured in the F25M grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN plus TiN dual coating, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across demanding cutting conditions. The insert features a 60-degree included angle, three cutting edges, a neutral rake, a T-Land cutting edge style, and the MD08 chip breaker geometry. With a thickness of 0.1094 inches and an inscribed circle of 0.2780 inches, it fits the 218.19-100 insert series toolholders used in face and shoulder milling applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for milling stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, and cast iron in both roughing and semi-finish passes where consistent chip formation and tool life are priorities. The MD08 chip breaker geometry supports medium-depth cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0290 inches, making it appropriate for finish and light-roughing milling passes on ferrous workpieces. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of compatible cutter bodies without handedness restrictions. It is a single-sided insert secured by screw clamping in the cutter body pocket.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R218.19-20 and R217.21-R100. Insert size code 100T fits toolholders in the 218.19-100 series. Verify pocket dimensions and screw specifications against the cutter body documentation before installation.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque — do not over-torque, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
