The SECO 02430421 is a TCMT-style triangular carbide turning insert in the CP500 grade, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning operations. It features a PVD-applied multilayer TiAlN and TiN coating over a solid carbide substrate, giving it strong wear resistance and thermal stability. The F1 chip breaker geometry produces a sharp cutting edge with a positive rake angle, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert measures 0.25 inches inscribed circle with a 0.0157-inch corner radius and a 0.09-inch thickness. It is held in the toolholder by a screw-clamp method and delivers three usable cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a consumable tooling component in production turning centers.
This insert is rated primarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M) and is also compatible with steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium (ISO codes P, K, and S). Material grades M10, M20, and M30 are covered. The multi-use application scope includes turning, facing, boring, and back turning, making it a versatile choice for shops running mixed-material jobs on a single setup. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO designation TCMT110204-F1.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO TCMT insert pocket specifications. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 0.25-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 7-degree relief angle (clearance code C, tolerance code M).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamp screw — over-tightening can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new edge, and verify edge orientation against the toolholder print before resuming cuts.
