The SECO 02430373 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCGT series, designed for high-performance machining of non-ferrous metals. It features a 55-degree diamond shape (DCGT style) with a sharp cutting edge and a positive rake geometry, making it well-suited for aluminum and other soft, ductile materials where clean chip evacuation and surface finish are priorities. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, the insert thickness is 0.156 inches, and the corner radius is 0.008 inches. The KX grade and AL chip breaker designation are optimized for light to moderate cuts in non-ferrous applications. Installation is by screw clamp.
This insert is used in turning centers and CNC lathes for operations including turning, facing, boring, and back turning on non-ferrous workpiece materials such as aluminum, copper, and brass. It carries an uncoated bright finish, which reduces built-up edge and maintains a sharp cutting edge on gummy materials. The neutral hand orientation and DCGT geometry make it a flexible choice across multiple tool holder configurations used in both production and job-shop environments. Material grades N15, N20, and N25 cover a range of non-ferrous cutting conditions.

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician using the appropriate screw-clamp tool holder for DCGT-series inserts. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully and torque the clamp screw to the tool holder specification. Handle carbide inserts carefully — edges are sharp and the substrate is brittle.
