The SECO 02430316 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the CCGT series, designed for high-performance machining of non-ferrous metals. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape with a positive rake geometry and a sharp cutting edge, making it well-suited for light, precise cuts. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert thickness is 0.1563 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0079 inches. Grade KX with the AL chip breaker geometry supports clean chip formation in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. The insert is screw-held and delivers two usable cutting edges per piece.
This insert is used in CNC turning centers and manual lathes for boring, facing, and turning operations on non-ferrous workpieces such as aluminum, copper, and brass. It is suited for finish and semi-finish cuts where tight tolerances and surface quality are critical. The neutral hand orientation provides flexibility across standard toolholders. Material grades N15, N20, and N25 indicate application range from finishing to light roughing in non-ferrous applications. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments are the primary users.
Designed for use in CCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting a C insert shape with G tolerance and C clearance code. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards with ISO code CCGT09T302F-AL and industry standard number CCGT32.50.5F-AL. Intended for primary workpiece material code N non-ferrous metals across material grades N15, N20, and N25.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification. Inspect the insert seat and screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
