The SECO 02430287 is a CCGT-style solid carbide turning insert in grade CP500, designed for precision metal cutting in lathe and boring applications. It features a multilayer PVD coating combining TiAlN and TiN for extended tool life and heat resistance. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a sharp cutting edge, making it well suited for light finishing cuts on difficult-to-machine materials. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.002-inch corner radius, it delivers tight tolerances and a fine surface finish. The F1 chip breaker geometry controls chip flow effectively at lower depths of cut.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in production machining environments. Its primary workpiece material is stainless steel, with secondary suitability for carbon steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. The CP500 grade and PVD coating make it a practical choice for ISO material groups M, P, K, and S across light to medium finishing passes. It is used by machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities handling precision components.
Designed for use in CCGT-style screw-clamped turning tool holders accepting a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, 80-degree diamond insert with a 0.1142-inch hole diameter. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code CCGT0602005-F1, industry standard number CCGT21.50.0-F1. Suitable for boring, facing, and turning applications across ISO material groups M, P, K, and S.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing the insert, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is secured in the turret. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw without over-torquing the insert pocket. Verify insert seating and runout before resuming cutting operations.
