The SECO 02429815 is a VNGA-series polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) turning insert designed for high-performance machining of hard and abrasive materials. Manufactured to the CBN200 grade, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch, the corner radius is 1/32 inch, and the insert thickness is 3/16 inch. With two cutting edges and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, it delivers consistent performance in demanding turning applications. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, profiling, and back turning operations on cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is built to ANSI and ISO standards, with an ISO designation of VNGA160408S-02020-L1-B. The flat-top geometry and negative rake angle make it appropriate for rigid setups and interrupted or continuous cuts on hardened workpieces. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning of hardened ferrous components in automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in VNGA-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. Primary workpiece material is cast iron (ISO material code K); secondary workpiece materials include super-alloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes S and H). Material grades K10 and K20 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is properly secured before seating or replacing the insert. Confirm the toolholder is rated for VNGA-style inserts with the appropriate clamp, pin, or lever lock mechanism before installation. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.04 inch as specified for this insert geometry.
