The SECO 02429640 is a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) turning insert designed for high-wear-resistance machining of cast iron and superalloys. Carrying the ANSI insert code CCGW432 and ISO code CCGW120408, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. The uncoated CBN200 grade delivers a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited for demanding finish and semi-finish turning operations. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Installation is by screw-holding method. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is used in turning, boring, and facing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is engineered for primary use on cast iron workpieces classified under material grade K10 and K20, and is also applicable to superalloys and titanium and hard materials. The flat-top rake geometry and chamfered and honed cutting edge style support controlled chip formation at moderate to high cutting speeds. It is suited to both light finishing passes and moderate material removal in production machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for screw-clamping toolholders accepting CCGW432 (ANSI) or CCGW120408 (ISO) insert geometry. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before installation.
This insert is installed and changed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and spindle is locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque driver for the screw-holding clamp to avoid insert cracking; consult the toolholder manufacturer's specification for clamping torque. Inspect the pocket seat for debris or damage before seating the insert.
