The SECO 02426740 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying manufacturer part number SEMX1204AFTN-ME12 in the F40M fine-grain grade. This square SEMX-12 series insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating, a positive rake geometry with a T-land cutting edge style, and a 20-degree relief angle. Four neutral-hand cutting edges deliver a maximum depth of cut of 0.3425 inches per edge. The 0.1874-inch thickness and 0.5-inch inscribed circle conform to ANSI and ISO standards for the 1204 insert size code. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this insert in compatible shoulder milling cutter bodies for production work in steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
This insert is suited for use in face and shoulder milling operations across both roughing and semi-finishing passes. Primary workpiece material categories are steel (P), cast iron (K), and superalloys and titanium (S), with secondary suitability for cast iron and non-ferrous metals. The ME12 chip breaker geometry is optimized for interrupted and continuous cuts where chip control and edge stability are critical. The 0.0441-inch corner radius helps reduce insert chipping on harder ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces. Each package contains one insert; the minimum order quantity is 10 inserts.

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard indexable insert procedures. Power down the spindle and lock out the machine before accessing the cutter body. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, chips, or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper edge alignment and runout.
