The SECO 02426067 is a solid carbide triangular turning insert in the TPMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multilayer PVD coating of TiAlN and TiN, grade CP500, engineered primarily for stainless steel machining. The insert features a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) inscribed circle, a 1/32 inch (0.0315 inch) corner radius, a sharp cutting edge style, and a positive rake geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in standard TPMT-style screw-lock toolholders for finish and semi-finish turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations, making it a versatile choice for job shops and production environments. The F1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for stainless steel and performs across steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium. The 60-degree triangular shape provides three usable cutting edges per insert, reducing tooling cost per part. Typical applications include external diameter turning and internal boring passes where controlled chip formation and surface finish are priorities.
Designed for use in TPMT-style screw-lock toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch inscribed circle triangular insert. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M); secondary workpiece materials include steel (P), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S). Material grades M10, M20, and M30 apply.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or rotating the insert. Secure the insert with the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer specifications, not by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or wear before each insert change to maintain accurate seating and prevent premature edge failure.
