The SECO 02426066 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning applications. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The insert is coated with a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating under the CP500 manufacturer grade, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed cutting. With three cutting edges and a sharp cutting edge style, it is suited for productive general turning, facing, boring, and back turning operations. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, and precision manufacturing are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is designed primarily for stainless steel machining, corresponding to ISO workpiece material code M, with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium. The F1 chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action and controlled chip formation, making it effective in finishing and light roughing passes. Material grades M10, M20, and M30 define the operating range. The screw-holding method provides secure clamping in compatible TPMT-style toolholders. Multi-use application capability includes back turning, boring, facing, and turning, making this a versatile insert for varied lathe and turning center setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for TPMT-style toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with screw clamping. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code TPMT110204-F1 and industry standard number TPMT21.51-F1 apply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for debris or damage before each use to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool geometry.
