The SECO 02417600 is a solid carbide trigon milling insert designed for use in indexable milling cutters. It carries the ANSI and ISO designation 218.19-160T-04-MD11 and is manufactured to the F25M grade using medium grain carbide substrate. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating that enhances heat resistance and tool life when cutting ferrous materials. With a neutral rake, a T-Land cutting edge style, a 12-degree relief angle, and an MD11 chip breaker geometry, it is engineered for controlled chip formation during milling operations on steel and stainless steel. Installation is performed by licensed machinists or tool-room technicians in CNC and conventional milling applications.
This insert is suited for milling stainless steel, carbon steel, and cast iron in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The MD11 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-grain carbide performance in applications where chip control and surface finish consistency are priorities. The neutral hand designation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand cutter bodies in the compatible series. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling on production machining centers in industrial environments.
Compatible with cutter series R218.19-32, R217.21-R160, and R220.21-R160 as stated by the manufacturer. Designed for use on workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron per ISO material codes P, M, and K.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the insert screw to the cutter body torque specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and tool runout.
