Product Description

The SECO 00099707 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SCMT32.51-F1 geometry with CP500 grade designation. It carries a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating that resists heat and wear during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features a 90-degree square shape with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and four usable cutting edges. The F1 chip breaker geometry produces a sharp cutting edge with positive rake, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert in standard SCMT-style toolholders secured by a clamp screw.

This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on stainless steel as its primary workpiece material, with additional capability on steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. It fits into high-production environments where consistent chip control and surface finish are required. The sharp F1 chip breaker geometry reduces cutting forces on difficult-to-machine materials, making it appropriate for light to medium depths of cut up to 0.3583 inches. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.

Key Features

  • Multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability
  • F1 chip breaker with sharp cutting edge and positive rake reduces cutting forces on stainless steel and super-alloys
  • Four cutting edges per insert maximize tool economy
  • 90-degree square insert shape (SCMT) is compatible with screw-lock SCMT toolholders
  • Maximum depth of cut of 0.3583 inches supports finishing through semi-finishing applications
  • Meets ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code SCMT09T304-F1

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct equivalent for SCMT-style screw-on toolholders. Conforms to industry standard number SCMT32.51-F1 and ISO code SCMT09T304-F1, allowing direct interchange with any toolholder specified for that geometry.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque to prevent micro-movement during cutting. Inspect the pocket and screw threads for chips or debris before seating a fresh insert.
