The SECO 00098795 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating over a CP500 carbide substrate, combining wear resistance with thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape with a flat-top chipbreaker geometry, a positive rake angle, and a 15-degree relief angle. The corner radius measures 0.0079 inches and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.1563 inches. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production turning environments install this insert using a screw-holding method.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning stainless steel (ISO material group M) and is also rated for steel (P), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S). It suits finishing to semi-finishing passes where controlled chip formation and edge integrity are critical. The flat-top chipbreaker geometry supports consistent chip evacuation on difficult-to-machine materials. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.1508 inches. The insert carries ISO code CDCB04T002 and conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, making it compatible with standard toolholders sized for this insert class.

This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC operator using the designated clamping screw for the toolholder seat. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge registration.
