The SECO 00096864 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMP432-MF1 configuration, manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards and carrying the CP500 grade designation. Coated with a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN finish, this insert is engineered for finishing operations on stainless steel, steel, cast iron, and superalloys. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative rake and negative side clearance, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and an insert thickness of 0.1874 inches. Four cutting edges are available per insert, supporting boring, facing, and turning applications.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes where finishing passes on difficult materials are required. The MF1 chip breaker geometry is designed for light to moderate finishing cuts, providing controlled chip flow on stainless steel and superalloy workpieces. The CP500 grade balances moderate wear resistance with toughness, making it applicable across steel (P), cast iron (K), and special and super alloy (S) material groups. It is compatible with insert holders accepting clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting CNMP-style inserts with clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. ISO equivalent code is CNMG120408-MF1. Suitable for boring, facing, and turning applications on stainless steel, steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer specifications when tightening clamp screws. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge registration.
