The SECO 00096858 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, this insert carries the industry designation CCMT32.52-F1 (ISO: CCMT09T308-F1) and is coated with a multilayer TiAlN and TiN PVD coating under the CP500 grade. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting geometry with a positive rake and positive side clearance. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for light to moderate material removal in finishing passes. It is held in place by a screw-type clamping system.
This insert is suited for finishing applications including turning, facing, and boring on stainless steel, steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The CP500 grade is engineered to deliver moderate wear resistance and toughness across P, K, and S workpiece material classifications, making it a versatile choice for shops working mixed materials. The F1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are the primary goals. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for CCMT-series screw-clamp turning tool holders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with 80-degree diamond geometry, per ANSI size code 32.52 and ISO size code 09T308.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and in a safe lockout state. Use the correct torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw and tighten to the tool holder manufacturer's specified torque to avoid seat damage. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Never use a damaged or improperly seated insert, as this can cause tool failure and workpiece damage.
