The SECO 00096857 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the CCMT32.51-F1 industry standard designation and is manufactured to grade CP500 with a multilayer PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake geometry and a sharp cutting edge style. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, corner radius is 0.0157 inches, and insert thickness is 0.1563 inches. With two usable cutting edges and an F1 chip breaker, this insert is suited for finishing to medium-depth cuts in demanding workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for boring, facing, and turning operations and is held in place by a screw-type clamping method. The primary target workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M), with secondary suitability for carbon and alloy steel, cast iron, and super-alloys including titanium. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3661 inches, making it appropriate for light roughing through finishing passes. It is used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The ISO code equivalent is CCMT09T304-F1. This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts.
