The SECO 00096856 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT format, designed for precision metal cutting in lathe and boring applications. It carries the CP500 manufacturer grade with a multilayer PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating for heat and wear resistance. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a 0.375 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0079 inch corner radius, and a sharp cutting edge style with a positive rake geometry. The F1 chip breaker promotes controlled chip flow during finishing and semi-finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations across a range of workpiece materials. The primary target material is stainless steel, with secondary compatibility covering steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. The CP500 grade with multilayer PVD coating is well matched to demanding cuts where heat buildup and edge wear are concerns. The insert fits standard CCMT-style toolholders and is indexed using a screw-clamp holding method, making it a practical choice for both dedicated finishing setups and multi-pass turning programs on CNC lathes.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders. Industry standard number CCMT32.50.5-F1 and ISO code CCMT09T302-F1 apply. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts; each package contains 1 insert.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be brought to a complete stop and all energy sources locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct CCMT screw-clamp torque driver to seat the insert without cracking the carbide body. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear before installing a new insert to ensure repeatable cutting-edge position.
