The SECO 00096853 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-F1 series, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating over a CP500 carbide substrate, giving it strong wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.0078-inch corner radius, and a 0.25-inch inscribed circle. The F1 chip breaker geometry and sharp cutting edge style are optimized for finish to semi-finish turning where chip control and surface finish quality are critical.
This insert is primarily suited for machining stainless steel and is also rated for steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. It is a neutral-hand insert with a positive rake angle and a 7-degree relief angle, making it appropriate for boring, facing, and turning operations. The screw-clamping hold method is compatible with standard CCMT-style toolholders. Material grades M10, M20, and M30 are the rated application ranges, aligning with light-to-medium cutting conditions on difficult-to-machine alloys. This insert meets both ANSI and ISO standards and carries ISO code CCMT060202-F1.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping screw are clean and free of chips before installing to maintain proper seating and runout. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw to avoid insert fracture or pocket damage.
