The SECO 00096180 is a right-hand CFMR-style indexable turning toolholder built for cut-off and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 1 inch by 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 6 inches, providing rigid support for high-precision interrupted or continuous cutting passes. The holder accepts LC..1606.. series inserts secured by a top-clamp holding method and delivers coolant-through capability for improved chip evacuation and tool life. Designed for universal workpiece material compatibility, it fits into multi-directional turning (MDT) setups where a single holder must handle varied cutting directions.
This toolholder is intended for use in production turning environments where cut-off and grooving are primary operations. The CFMR style and right-hand cutting direction make it appropriate for standard OD grooving and parting applications on a wide range of workpiece materials, including steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous alloys, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials corresponding to ISO material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Machinists and CNC setup technicians working in job shops or production facilities will find this holder well-suited to applications requiring repeatable insert indexing and consistent edge positioning.
Compatible insert families include LC..1606.., LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR with a 6 mm (0.25 inch) insert width. Compatible insert size code is LC1606. This holder is part of the SECO Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series and carries catalog reference CFMR L-100-06D.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state before any toolholder changes. Confirm the shank fits the tool block or turret bore squarely and that all clamping bolts are tightened to the machine manufacturer's specification before running. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and aligned with the machine's internal coolant system if that feature is being used. Always index or replace inserts with the machine stopped and follow the insert manufacturer's torque recommendation for the clamping screw.
