The SECO 00094820 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SONX120508TR-M12 in manufacturer grade F40M. It is a square-shaped, single-sided insert with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a positive rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert measures 0.5 inches in length and width, with a thickness of 0.2035 inches, and features a PVD-applied TiAlN plus TiN dual coating over a fine-grain carbide substrate. The 15-degree relief angle and 16-degree rake angle support efficient chip evacuation in demanding milling applications. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians using the screw-holding method compatible with the R220.99-12 cutter series.
This insert is designed for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It is suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where the M12 chip breaker geometry helps control chip formation. The right-hand cutting orientation and positive rake design make it appropriate for face milling and shoulder milling applications in production machining environments. The maximum depth of cut is 0.4331 inches, and the effective cutting edge length is 0.5 inches, allowing substantial material removal per pass.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the cutter body seat, and inspect the seat and screw threads for debris or damage before seating the insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for the insert grade and workpiece material combination.
