The SECO 00092488 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual lathe operations. It carries the VBMT21.50.5-F1 industry standard number and is manufactured to the CP500 grade with a multilayer PVD TiAlN and TiN coating. The 35-degree diamond insert shape provides a sharp cutting edge geometry suited to finish and semi-finish turning. With an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches and a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, this insert targets tight-tolerance work on difficult-to-machine materials. The F1 chip breaker geometry supports efficient chip control across a range of depths of cut up to 0.4134 inches. Neutral hand orientation allows flexible tool holder mounting.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, profiling, and back turning operations. Its primary workpiece material designation is stainless steel (ISO material code M), with secondary capability across steel (P), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S). It is suited to material grades M10, M20, and M30. Applications include both production and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and tool life on stainless and alloy steels are required. The screw-holding method provides positive insert seating. This insert conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO code VBMT110202-F1.
Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-clamp turning tool holders conforming to ANSI and ISO VBMT insert standards. Compatible with tool holders accepting a 35-degree diamond insert with a 0.1142-inch hole diameter and 3/32-inch insert thickness.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw to seat the insert without cracking the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating and edge orientation against the tool holder specification before resuming cutting operations.
