The SECO 00091355 is a multi-directional turning (MDT) insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This double-ended, neutral-hand insert is manufactured from solid carbide with a micrograin grade substrate and applied with a PVD coating in the CP500 manufacturer grade. The LCMF160302-0300-MT style delivers a cutting height of 0.177 inches, a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches (3.00 mm), and a corner radius of 0.008 inches. The MT chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible MDT toolholders.
This insert is suited for use across multiple workpiece material categories including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous (N), hardened materials (H), and superalloys (S). Its double-ended design extends usable tool life per insert, making it a practical choice for both production-volume turning and job-shop grooving applications. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left-hand and right-hand toolholder seats where the LCMF insert style is specified.
Designed for use in MDT-series toolholders that accept the LCMF160302 insert style with a 0.118-inch maximum cutting width seat. Confirm toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation.
CNC machinists and toolroom technicians install carbide turning inserts. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat and torque the clamping screw — do not over-tighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under uneven clamping loads. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
