The SECO 00091087 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert engineered for precision turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the MDT series, this insert carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating that improves wear resistance and extends tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 0.197-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.177-inch cutting height, and a 0.016-inch corner radius. The LCMR insert style with a neutral hand orientation and MP chipbreaker geometry make it a reliable choice for controlled chip evacuation in finishing and semi-finishing passes. Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists and tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for multi-directional turning applications where axial and radial cutting in a single pass is required. The CP500 micrograin solid carbide grade with PVD coating supports use across multiple workpiece material categories including hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is a single-end insert with an insert length of 0.630 inches (17.80 mm) and is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
This insert is compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened materials, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is designed for use in SECO MDT series multi-directional turning toolholders that accept the LCMR insert style with size code 1605M0.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and all axes at rest before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer specification to seat and secure the insert clamp. Verify seating and clamping torque before resuming cuts, and always inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris prior to installation. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for recommended cutting parameters for the CP500 grade.
