The SECO 00091069 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert designed for grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Running in the MDT series, this insert carries the CP500 manufacturer grade and features a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating applied over a micrograin carbide substrate. The LCMR insert style with a neutral hand orientation allows it to operate in multiple cutting directions. Key dimensions include a maximum cutting width of 0.197 inches, a cutting height of 0.177 inches, a corner radius of 0.016 inches, and an insert length of 0.630 inches. The MT chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on a wide range of materials. The primary workpiece material codes supported are H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. Designed for use in MDT series toolholders accepting LCMR160504-0500-MT inserts. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before installation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following the toolholder manufacturer's seating and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamping screw — do not use impact tools. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and edge alignment.
