The SECO 00091061 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning (MDT) insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the LCMR160504-0500-FT style designation, this insert features a micrograin carbide substrate with a CP500 manufacturer grade and a TiAlN plus titanium nitride PVD coating for extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and FT chipbreaker geometry make it suitable for a variety of cut directions and chip control demands in production turning environments.
This insert is used in MDT series toolholders for single-end grooving and turning applications. It is suited for use on ferrous metals, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys, covering primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Typical applications include part-off grooving, profile turning, and face grooving on both small and medium diameter workpieces in job shop and production machining settings. Installation requires a compatible LCMR-series MDT toolholder.
Designed for use in LCMR-series MDT toolholders that accept the LCMR160504 insert size. Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as defined by the ISO material classification system.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can cause insert rocking and premature failure. Follow your facility's tooling change procedures and applicable machine safety standards.
