The SECO 00091031 is a multi-directional turning insert engineered for precision material removal in CNC turning applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a CP500 manufacturer grade, this LCMF-style insert carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating designed to extend tool life and maintain edge integrity at elevated cutting temperatures. Key cutting geometry includes a 0.118-inch maximum cutting width, a 0.157-inch cutting height, and a 0.008-inch corner radius. The rectangular insert shape with a 90-degree included angle and 7-degree relief angle delivers consistent chip control across a broad range of workpiece materials. It is part of the MDT series and is installed by CNC machinists and tool crib technicians in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for use across multiple workpiece material categories including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to both right- and left-hand toolholders, broadening its application across varied turning setups. The FT chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during light to medium finishing passes. A clamp-style insert holding method secures the insert in compatible MDT series toolholders.

Insert installation and replacement should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians with the machine powered down and all axes at rest. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert — do not overtighten or substitute hardware. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Dispose of worn carbide inserts in accordance with local regulations for hazardous materials.
