The SECO 00090334 is a carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the SD100 series, this drill features a 17.5mm cutting diameter and a solid carbide tip with a TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) PVD coating for extended tool life and heat resistance at high cutting speeds. The 140-degree included point angle promotes clean entry and reduces thrust forces. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, improving chip evacuation and thermal management. This drill is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals in CNC turning centers and machining centers.
The 00090334 is optimized for cutting stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials where heat buildup and work hardening are primary concerns. The replaceable tip design of the SD100 series reduces tooling cost by allowing the carbide tip insert to be swapped without replacing the entire drill body. Typical applications include aerospace, medical device, and industrial manufacturing environments where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required on stainless steel workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replaceable tip insert for use with compatible SD100 series drill bodies accepting K-geometry tips in the 17.5mm diameter range.
Installation of replaceable carbide tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before tip removal or seating. Ensure the tip pocket and mating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the carbide tip to prevent runout. Follow the tool manufacturer torque guidelines for tip clamping if specified by the drill body documentation. Verify through-coolant passages are clear and that machine coolant pressure meets the requirements of the SD100 body in use.
