The SECO 00088698 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning insert in the MDT series, designed for grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This double-ended neutral-hand insert carries the style designation LCMF160302-0300-MCR6 and is manufactured in material grade CP600 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and Titanium Nitride coating. The insert measures 0.630 inches in length with a cutting height of 0.177 inches and a maximum cutting width of 0.118 inches. A 7-degree relief angle and MCR6 chipbreaker geometry support chip control across a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install and index these inserts during routine tooling setups.
This insert is suited for multi-directional turning and grooving applications in both production and job-shop environments. The CP600 grade with PVD TiAlN coating is rated for primary workpiece material codes M, N, P, and S, covering stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, steel, and high-temperature alloys. The double-ended design extends usable tool life by providing two cutting edges per insert, making it practical for high-cycle production work where tooling cost per part matters. Typical installation occurs in MDT-series toolholders configured for LCMF-style inserts.
Designed for use in MDT-series toolholders configured to accept LCMF insert style. Rated for workpiece materials classified under primary material codes M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous), P (steel), and S (high-temperature alloys).
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified for the MDT-series toolholder to seat the insert correctly. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Never attempt to index or replace inserts while the spindle is in motion.
