The SECO 00087774 is a left-hand CFIL-style indexable turning toolholder designed for grooving and cut-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built on the Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series platform, it features a 1 inch x 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 6 inches. The holder uses a mechanical clamp to secure LC..1603.. family inserts, providing rigid, repeatable insert location for consistent groove width and depth. The toolholder body is constructed from steel and is rated for universal workpiece materials, making it suitable for a broad range of turning applications. Machining professionals and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this tool.
This toolholder is suited for grooving and cut-off work on a wide range of workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, heat-resistant superalloys, and non-metallic materials, corresponding to ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The CFIL style and 90-degree lead angle position the insert perpendicular to the workpiece axis, which is standard for external grooving passes. The multi-use designation means a single toolholder body can accommodate several compatible insert geometries within the LC..1603.. family, reducing tooling inventory requirements.
Designed to accept LC..1603.. series inserts, including compatible geometries LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR, with a 3.00 mm (0.125 inch) insert width and compatible insert size code LC1603. Verify machine turret bore and shank clearance against the 1 inch x 1 inch shank cross-section before mounting.
This toolholder is installed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and all motion axes locked out before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret. Use calibrated torque tools when tightening the insert clamp screw to the insert manufacturer's specification. Confirm insert seating and tool stick-out measurement before running the first part.
