The SECO 00087636 is a right-hand CFIR-style indexable turning toolholder designed for cut-off and grooving operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a 1.25-inch by 1.25-inch steel shank with an overall length of 6 inches and accepts LC..1606.. series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. With a 90-degree lead angle and a maximum depth of cut of 0.8 inches, this toolholder is built for multi-directional turning applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. It is part of the SECO Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series and is rated as a multi-use tool.
This toolholder is suited for production turning environments where cut-off and grooving are routine operations. It accommodates universal workpiece materials, including those classified under material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, making it versatile across steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous, and high-temperature alloys. The clamp-style insert retention provides secure indexing and repeatable tool positioning. The back-of-bar to cutting edge distance is 1.5 inches, and the head length is 1.61 inches, giving machinists predictable geometry for setup and offset entry.
Compatible insert families include LC..1606.., LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR inserts with a 6.00 mm (0.25 inch) insert width. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Catalog reference: CFIR L-125-06D.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all motion is locked out before mounting or indexing the toolholder. Verify shank seating and clamp torque per the machine tool manufacturer's turret specifications before taking a cut. Confirm insert grade and geometry selection against workpiece material prior to production runs.
