The SECO 00087633 is a left-hand CFIL-style indexable turning toolholder designed for grooving and cut-off operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from steel with a 1 inch x 1 inch square shank and an overall length of 6 inches, this holder accepts LC..1604.. series inserts secured via a top-clamp holding method. It belongs to SECO's Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series and is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, making it suitable across a broad range of metals including steels, cast irons, stainless alloys, non-ferrous materials, high-temp alloys, and hardened materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians install this holder in production and job-shop environments.
This toolholder is used in left-hand cutting applications on turning centers where grooving and cut-off operations are required. The 90-degree lead angle and 1.25 inch back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension suit standard OD grooving setups. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.53 inches and a 0.157 inch (4.00 mm) insert width, it handles light to moderate grooving passes. The multi-use designation means the holder can be repositioned for varied turning strategies without requiring a dedicated single-purpose setup. It is compatible with LC1604-size inserts across multiple chipbreaker and geometry variants.
Designed for use with LC..1604.. series inserts including LCGN, LCMF, and LCMR geometries. Compatible insert size code is LC1604. Part of the SECO Multi-Directional Turning (MDT) series.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Shut down the machine spindle and confirm the turret is in a safe indexed position before mounting or removing the toolholder. Secure the shank fully within the turret pocket to the machine manufacturer's specified clamping depth to prevent deflection under cutting loads. Verify insert seating and clamp torque per the insert manufacturer's guidelines before initiating a cut.
