The SECO 00086118 is a solid carbide multi-directional turning (MDT) insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the LCMF160608 insert style with a CP500 micrograin carbide grade, this insert features a PVD coating for improved wear resistance and edge integrity at elevated cutting speeds. The neutral hand orientation and double-end design allow for flexible toolpath programming in both directions. The MG chipbreaker geometry is optimized for chip control across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop environments rely on this insert for consistent performance in interrupted and continuous cuts.
The 00086118 insert is suited for machining operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and superalloys, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, H, and S. It fits toolholders designed for the LCMF insert style and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes where chip control is critical. The double-end design extends tool life per insert, making it a practical choice for high-volume production turning cells.
Designed for use in toolholders that accept the LCMF insert style within the MDT (Multi-Directional Turning) series. Consult SECO toolholder documentation to confirm shank and pocket compatibility before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping guidelines. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the CP500 grade as specified in the SECO cutting data reference.
