The SECO 00083088 is a solid carbide uncoated boring insert designed for precision small-bore machining operations. Manufactured to the WBGT insert style with a size code of 030102 and grade 03G3, this trigon-shaped insert features an 80-degree included angle and a 7-degree relief angle. The bright, uncoated carbide construction is optimized for applications where coating could interfere with edge sharpness or dimensional accuracy. At 0.093 inches (2.40 mm) hole diameter and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0118 inches (0.30 mm), this insert is suited for fine-tolerance boring passes. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers and end users.
This insert is intended for boring applications involving hard materials and superalloys, corresponding to primary workpiece material codes N and S. It fits demanding finishing and semi-finishing operations where tight tolerances are required on small-diameter bores. The uncoated solid carbide substrate performs well in applications where workpiece material hardness demands a sharp, unworn cutting edge rather than a coated alternative. Typical environments include CNC turning centers and small-bore boring bars used in precision machining shops and production facilities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for WBGT-style boring bar toolholders accepting the 030102 insert size code.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to avoid seating errors that can affect bore tolerance.
