The SECO 00082297 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SEKN1504AFTN-M18 and manufactured in grade F40M fine-grain carbide. The insert is square-shaped, double-ground to a neutral rake angle of 0 degrees, and features a T-Land cutting edge style with a 20-degree relief angle. A PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual-coating protects the substrate at elevated cutting temperatures. With four usable cutting edges per insert and a chip breaker geometry designated M18, this insert is engineered for productive milling in demanding applications. It is installed by CNC machinists and tool-room technicians using a wedge-clamp holding method on compatible milling cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and semi-finishing operations. The M18 chip breaker geometry handles moderate depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.4567 inches. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose metal removal on CNC machining centers in production or job-shop environments. The neutral hand designation makes it compatible with a broad range of standard toolholder orientations.
Designed for use with cutter series SE15AR. ANSI and ISO code SEKN1504AFTN-M18 allows cross-reference to compatible toolholder systems using the SEKN-15 series insert pocket. Confirm pocket geometry and clamping method before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the machine tool and lock out the spindle per facility LOTO procedures. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before engaging the wedge clamp, and verify the cutting edge is not chipped prior to use. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut or the insert size range specifications for the selected cutter body.
