The SECO 00077975 is a laydown threading insert engineered for cutting internal NPT pipe threads on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated via PVD with a TiAlN/TiN finish, this insert delivers wear resistance and edge retention when threading stainless steel and other demanding workpiece materials. It runs in the 16NR insert style within the Snap Tap series, carries the CP500 manufacturer grade, and uses an A2 chipbreaker geometry optimized for controlling chips during internal threading passes. At 0.3750 inches inscribed circle and 0.1366 inches thick, it seats precisely in compatible 16NR laydown toolholders.
This insert is intended for right-hand internal threading operations producing NPT tapered pipe threads at 14 threads per inch. Typical applications include threading pipe fittings, valve bodies, manifolds, and hydraulic components where NPT sealing threads are required. The 60-degree included angle and NPT thread standard make it a direct-use insert for standard pipe thread profiles. It is well suited for production environments threading stainless steel, though the CP500 grade and PVD coating also support work in other ISO M-category materials.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting the 16NR laydown insert style within the Snap Tap series. Verify holder compatibility for internal NPT threading at 14 TPI before installation.
Installation and replacement of threading inserts is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure and confirm the insert is fully seated and clamped before resuming cuts. Inspect the thread form on a test piece before committing to production runs.
