The SECO 00077954 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external threading and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating for extended tool life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 0.056 inch cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 0.056 inches, and an overall length of 0.3543 inches. The 9NR insert style uses a clamp holding method and fits within the Snap Tap series tooling system. Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists and tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for grooving and parting applications on turning equipment where consistent groove width control is required. The FG chip breaker geometry supports chip control across universal primary workpiece materials, including ferrous, non-ferrous, and exotic alloy categories as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S. It is intended for right-hand cutting configurations. The Snap Tap series platform it belongs to is designed for thread-turning and grooving work on small-diameter features. Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Snap Tap series toolholders accepting 9NR insert style with a seat size of 9 and a 0.25 inch inscribed circle, conforming to ISO standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the Snap Tap series toolholder to secure the insert without over-clamping. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to prevent improper seating and premature edge failure.
