The SECO 00077948 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Snap Tap series specification, this insert features a 9NL style geometry with a left-hand cutting orientation and a 0.103 inch cutting width. The CP500 grade substrate is finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. Maximum depth of cut is 0.103 inches. The FG chip breaker promotes controlled chip formation during finish grooving passes. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops install this insert as a direct component of Snap Tap tooling systems.
This insert is suited for grooving applications across universal workpiece materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by primary material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S per ISO classification. Typical applications include external grooving, recessing, and snap-ring groove cutting on turned components in both job shop and production environments. The clamp-type insert holding method provides secure seating and repeatable positioning during operation. Maximum depth of cut range is 0.100 to 0.150 inches, giving this insert flexibility across light to moderate grooving passes.
Designed for use in Snap Tap series toolholders accepting a 9NL insert style with a 9 insert seat size and a 1/4 inch inscribed circle. Compatible with tooling systems requiring a clamp-type holding method for left-hand grooving inserts.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing the insert. Verify the insert is fully seated against the pocket and that the clamp is tightened securely before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut range specified for this insert size.
