The SECO 00077914 is a laydown threading insert designed for external UN thread cutting at 12 threads per inch (TPI). Built from micrograin solid carbide in the CP500 grade, it carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating that supports cutting in stainless steel and other demanding workpiece materials. The 16ER insert style seats in standard Snap Tap toolholders. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.1366 inches, and a 60-degree included angle, this insert delivers consistent thread profile geometry on right-hand external applications. Machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this profile for accurate, repeatable UN thread forms.
This insert is suited for external threading operations on stainless steel workpieces, identified under material code M. The A2 chipbreaker geometry manages chip evacuation during threading passes. It fits right-hand external applications in turning centers and CNC lathes equipped with compatible Snap Tap insert pockets. The CP500 grade and PVD coating combination addresses the heat and edge-wear demands common when threading austenitic and duplex stainless alloys. This insert ships individually with a minimum order quantity of 2 units.
Designed as a drop-in replacement-style insert for Snap Tap series toolholders accepting the 16ER insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Compatible toolholder pockets must accommodate right-hand external threading geometry.
Threading inserts are installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Secure the insert fully in the Snap Tap pocket and verify torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specification before starting the spindle.
