The insert delivers a cutting width of 0.103 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.103 inches, making it well suited for shallow, accurate grooves and external thread forms. This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S per ISO classification. That range includes hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, non-metals, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. The Snap Tap series is commonly found in production turning environments where consistent groove geometry and thread profile accuracy are required across high-volume runs. Designed as a clamp-held OEM-style replacement grooving insert for Snap Tap series toolholders accepting a 10ER insert seat size with a 0.25 inch inscribed circle, conforming to ISO standards.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before insert removal or seating. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert to maintain accurate depth and width geometry.
