The SECO 00077903 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for threading and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Snap Tap series standard, it features a 10ER insert style with a 0.086 inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.086 inches. The insert carries a CP500 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating, delivering hardness and heat resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. It is a right-hand insert held in place by a clamp-style toolholder and is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job shop environments.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S under ISO classification. That range spans cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, stainless steel, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. Typical applications include external thread grooving and snap-ring groove machining on turned components where consistent width and depth control are required. The FG chip breaker geometry supports chip control during shallow grooving passes.
Designed for use in Snap Tap series clamp-style toolholders accepting a 10ER insert style with a size 10 insert seat and a 1/4 inch inscribed circle. Compatible workpiece material codes per ISO classification: H, K, M, N, O, P, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered off and the spindle fully locked before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamp to avoid over-torquing the insert seat. Verify insert orientation and seating before resuming cutting operations. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines during tooling changes.
