The SECO 00077901 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision threading and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the 10ER insert style in the Snap Tap series, it features a 0.056 inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.056 inches. The insert is finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating over a micrograin carbide substrate in the CP500 grade, delivering thermal resistance and edge wear performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. It is right-hand orientation and uses clamp-style insert holding. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with turning applications install this insert into compatible Snap Tap toolholders.
This insert is suited for external grooving and threading operations on a variety of workpiece materials including ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and plastics. The universal primary workpiece material rating covers material codes H, K, M, N, O, P, and S per ISO classification, making it a versatile choice for general production and job-shop turning environments where a single insert grade needs to handle diverse material runs.
Designed for use in Snap Tap series toolholders that accept the 10ER insert style with a size 10 insert seat. Compatible across ISO material groups H, K, M, N, O, P, and S as rated by the manufacturer.
This insert is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician into a compatible clamp-style Snap Tap toolholder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before changing inserts. Verify the insert seat is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp screw.
