The SECO 00077882 is a laydown threading insert designed for internal UN thread cutting at 9 threads per inch (TPI). Built from solid carbide micrograin stock in the CP500 grade, it carries a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating that extends edge life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert seats in a right-hand orientation and produces a 60-degree included angle consistent with the UN thread standard. At 0.3750 inches inscribed circle and 0.1366 inches thick, it fits standard Snap Tap toolholders used in CNC turning and threading operations. Machining professionals and toolroom setups rely on this insert for precise, repeatable thread form on internal bores.
This insert is suited for shops running internal threading operations on a wide range of materials. The CP500 micrograin carbide grade and PVD coating support use on cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys, reflected in the K, M, N, P, and S material codes. It is commonly used in CNC lathes and turning centers performing UN internal thread cycles in production or repair environments. The 9 TPI designation makes it appropriate for larger-diameter internal threads where coarse pitch is specified per UN standards.
Designed for use in Snap Tap series laydown threading toolholders accepting a 16NR insert style with a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle. Confirm toolholder specifications before ordering.
Insert seating and torque should follow the toolholder manufacturer's specification sheet for the 16NR pocket style. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench or insert-seating key to avoid micro-cracking the carbide at the clamping point. Inspect the seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination in the pocket can cause insert fracture under cutting loads.
