The SECO 00072586 is an internal right hand indexable grooving toolholder designed for precision internal grooving operations on steel workpieces. Built on the Snap Tap series platform, it accepts 9NR inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method, giving technicians a reliable, repeatable setup in tight bore environments. The toolholder measures 5.5 inches overall length with a 0.625 inch shank diameter and handles groove widths from 0.03 inches up to 0.103 inches at a maximum depth of cut of 0.103 inches. It is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes where internal grooving calls for consistent insert indexing and rigid shank support.
This toolholder is intended for internal, non-face grooving applications in right hand cutting direction. It is commonly used in production turning environments and tool rooms machining steel components that require internal grooves for retaining rings, seals, or undercuts. The minimum bore diameter for entry is 0.5 inches, making it practical for moderate bore sizes. The SN toolholder style and Snap Tap series design are standard in industrial CNC turning shops where tooling interchangeability and fast insert changes are a priority.
Compatible insert sizes include 9NR .030FG, 9NR .046FG, 9NR .056FG, 9NR .068FG, 9NR .086FG, and 9NR .103FG. Designed for use in minimum bore diameters of 0.5 inches and part of the SECO Snap Tap series toolholder system.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or indexing inserts. Verify shank fitment and overhang length against the machine turret specifications before tightening. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque guidance for toolholder clamping fasteners.
