The SECO 00072263 is a solid carbide round profiling insert in the RCGS1.5 series, designed for precision profiling and turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to the RCGS1.5-46 standard and coated with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer finish, this insert carries the CP200 manufacturer grade and delivers reliable performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 3/16 inch (0.1874 inch decimal) inscribed circle, a 1/4 inch thickness, a 0.0937 inch corner radius, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.0937 inch. The 360-degree included angle and positive rake geometry make this a neutral-hand, full-round insert suited to contouring and profiling passes where consistent edge engagement is critical.
This insert is intended for profiling and turning applications in ferrous and exotic-alloy machining environments. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, with secondary suitability for cast iron. The CP200 grade with PVD TiAlN and TiN coating is particularly effective in interrupted-cut and finishing scenarios on difficult-to-machine alloys. It is compatible with T-Lock insert holding systems using clamp or pin retention and is suited to both production and job-shop turning setups where a round insert profile is required.
Designed for use in T-Lock series toolholders that accept RCGS1.5 round inserts with clamp or pin retention. Compatible with ISO code RCGS4.76-46 and standard designations RCGS1.5-46 and RCGS4.76-46. Suitable for turning and profiling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, hard materials, and cast iron workpieces across P, M, S, and H ISO material groups.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket before engaging the clamp or pin to ensure proper support and prevent micro-movement under cutting loads. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before installing a new insert, as debris under the insert will cause premature edge failure.
